The 1st International Sustainability Conference (ISC) was a 1day gathering, co-organised by SPROUTS Environment Trust (as a part of their 11th Earth Mela) and RD&SH National College (Nature Club), Bandra, Mumbai, on Jan 12, 2020. The ISC 2020’s main aim was to bring together leading thinkers, experts & stakeholders from various socio-economic segments to discuss the problems and seek solutions to the pressing problems of climate change & sustainability.
Following the success of the 1st ISC 2020 and to negotiate around the COVID-19 induced travel limitations, SPROUTS has partnered with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES-India), to co-organise the 2nd ISC 2021 as an 3-day Online conference on Nov 12-14, 2021. The ISC 2021 aims to bring together social change drivers, youth, students, leading scientists, policymakers and members representing various socio-economic strata of the community, to develop a common vision on the resilience model necessary, given the current scenario of climate emergencies. ISC 2021 will identify the problems and current challenges of sustainable development, while documenting successful actionable ideas to mitigate the effects of Climate Change and result in social resilience. ISC 2021 will follow the United Nations’ (UN) theme for 2021 – International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development.
The ISC 2021 will have 4 Main Themes (Energy, Resources, Communities, Policy) and 24 sub-themes (viz. Biodiversity, Disasters, Policy, Climate & Weather, Governance, Housing, Infrastructure, Disability, Transport, Media, Education & Outreach, Health, Urban Environment, Research, Community, Economy, Youth, Industry, Waste, Pollution, Networking, Energy, Gender, and Agriculture) to focus on the effects of climate change on various stakeholders (communities), global health, impact on economies/industries as well as resources, vis-a-vis natural disasters, pandemics, livelihoods and issues such as safety, housing, gender parity and equity to minority communities.
The conference deliberations, viz. research posters, plenaries, workshop info and data collated during the break-out groups would form the knowledge-base for the 7th book in SPROUTS’ Climate Action Series, titled ‘The Climate Actioneer’s Manual (CAM). CAM will present unique perspectives & approaches towards surviving Climate Change & its effects while taking action at individual & collective levels.
THIS ENTIRE CONFERENCE WILL HAVE INDIAN SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETERS!!! So we welcome participants with hearing and speech difficulties.
Note: E-certificates will be given to all Conference Participants
